Sebastian Enault is completing an internship at the Icelandic Seal Center, where he works with the team on developing the use of new technologies such as UAVs for seal monitoring. In addition, he is working on a citizen science projects aimed at monitoring seal populations. His research interests broadly encompass marine ecology and the application of innovative methods for wildlife conservation. He holds a bachelor’s degree in marine sciences from the University of Barcelona and a double master’s degree in Environmental Changes in High Latitudes from Lund University and Landbúnaðarháskóli Íslands. He did his thesis on Meteorological and Geomorphological Influence on Harbor Seal Haul-Out Distribution Behavior Using Drone Imagery at Gothenburg University.
