Driving north from Hvammstangi, along the western side of Vatnsnes, the first marked seal watching site is on the property of a farm called Svalbarð. This is marked with the typical blue and white sign depicting seals that is seen elsewhere, including on the map provided by the visitor center at the Seal Center Museum. This location features a very small parking lot at the side of the road and a swinging gate through the fence. From there, an easy 280 m walk across a grassy meadow will take visitors close enough to see seals well on the skerries just offshore. There are primarily two skerries at this site on which seals haul out, especially in a 4-hour period around low tide.
At this site, there are no toilets or shelter.
